German-Japanese Interchange of Data Analysis Results
Wolfgang Gaul, Andreas Geyer-Schulz, Akinori Okada, Yasumasa Baba
- Springer
- 5 Novembre 2013
- 9783319012643
This volume focuses on innovative approaches and recent developments in clustering, analysis of data and models, and applications: The first part of the book covers a broad range of innovations in the area of clustering, from algorithmic innovations for graph clustering to new visualization and evaluation techniques. The second part addresses new developments in data and decision analysis (conjoint analysis, non-additive utility functions, analysis of asymmetric relationships, and regularization techniques). The third part is devoted to the application of innovative data analysis methods in the life-sciences, the social sciences and in engineering. All contributions in this volume are revised and extended versions of selected papers presented in the German/Japanese Workshops at Karlsruhe (2010) and Kyoto (2012).

Analysis and Modeling of Complex Data in Behavioral and Social Sciences
Claus Weihs, Donatella Vicari, Akinori Okada, Giancarlo Ragozini
- Springer
- 5 Juillet 2014
- 9783319066929
This volume presents theoretical developments, applications and computational methods for the analysis and modeling in behavioral and social sciences where data are usually complex to explore and investigate. The challenging proposals provide a connection between statistical methodology and the social domain with particular attention to computational issues in order to effectively address complicated data analysis problems.
The papers in this volume stem from contributions initially presented at the joint international meeting JCS-CLADAG held in Anacapri (Italy) where the Japanese Classification Society and the Classification and Data Analysis Group of the Italian Statistical Society had a stimulating scientific discussion and exchange. -
Methods for the Analysis of Asymmetric Proximity Data
Donatella Vicari, Akinori Okada, Giuseppe Bove
- Springer
- 14 Août 2021
- 9789811631726
This book provides an accessible introduction and practical guidelines to apply asymmetric multidimensional scaling, cluster analysis, and related methods to asymmetric one-mode two-way and three-way asymmetric data. A major objective of this book is to present to applied researchers a set of methods and algorithms for graphical representation and clustering of asymmetric relationships. Data frequently concern measurements of asymmetric relationships between pairs of objects from a given set (e.g., subjects, variables, attributes,...), collected in one or more matrices. Examples abound in many different fields such as psychology, sociology, marketing research, and linguistics and more recently several applications have appeared in technological areas including cybernetics, air traffic control, robotics, and network analysis. The capabilities of the presented algorithms are illustrated by carefully chosen examples and supported by extensive data analyses. A review of the specialized statistical software available for the applications is also provided. This monograph is highly recommended to readers who need a complete and up-to-date reference on methods for asymmetric proximity data analysis.

Facets of Behaviormetrics
Kazuo Shigemasu, Akinori Okada, Satoru Yokoyama, Ryozo Yoshino
- Springer
- 16 Août 2023

This edited book is the first one written in English that deals comprehensively with behavior metrics. The term "behaviormetrics" comprehends the research including all sorts of quantitative approaches to disclose human behavior. Researchers in behavior metrics have developed, extended, and improved methods such as multivariate statistical analysis, survey methods, cluster analysis, machine learning, multidimensional scaling, corresponding analysis or quantification theory, network analysis, clustering, factor analysis, test theory, and related factors. In the spirit of behavior metrics, researchers applied these methods to data obtained by surveys, experiments, or websites from a diverse range of fields.
The purpose of this book is twofold. One is to represent studies that display how the basic elements of behavior metrics have developed into present-day behavior metrics. The other is to represent studies performed mainly by those who would like to pioneer new fieldsof behavior metrics and studies that display elements of future behavior metrics. These studies consist of various characteristics such as those dealing with theoretical or conceptual subjects, the algorithm, the model, the method, and the application to a wide variety of fields. This book helps readers to understand the present and future of behavior metrics.
